This male brook trout is displaying it's spawning colors. Trout are a favorite of mine to paint, due to their brilliant colors.  This selection is also an acrylic painting which is out of the norm for me, since I have a love for watercolor. However, acrylics offer some abilities well suited for detailed brush work. As you can see in the close-up images, I painted some very detailed points of interest.
